Joe Mauer's sideburns have just been dethroned as the catchers most valuable possession. Mauer received 27 of 28 first place AL MVP votes on his way to becoming the 6th catcher all time to win the award and first since Ivan Rodriguez. His Major League leading .365 avg ranks second best all time among catchers. In addition to his average, Mauer lead the AL in OBP and slugging percentage. Mauer now has 2 batting titles (2008, 2009) and now an MVP.
